I am a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) coach. At the time I trained I wanted to hone my leadership skills, to elevate my ability to support others to thrive and soar.
Before my training I had a conversation with my facilitator, Mei Ouw, where she asked me to think of a word that described the change I would experience in myself after completing the course. The word I chose was “slow.’
I wanted to talk less and listen more, to build deeper relationship with people not just to connect with them, but to create a space where they felt truly heard and could discover the transformation possible within.
I’ve been reflecting a lot on the power of listening; on how I do that, how it feels in my body, what I notice in myself and the person I'm with.
I feel relaxed. I feel a profound sense of presence with the other person. I feel stillness. And I experience the sensation of slowness, just as I had hoped I would.
How do you experience deep listening?
How do you know that you have connected with someone at a deeper level?
Where do you feel it in your body?
And what does it teach you?
