Today I am in Canada speaking at the Volunteer Managers' Hybrid Conference on building influence in your organisation. I am still pinching myself. One of the things I discuss is how to identify the evidence that tells you that you are, indeed having a positive influence.

Because sometimes it is easy to get in our own head and focus on the things that don't go so well.

A piece of data that tells me that I am having a positive influence and am a great leader is our team engagement score from our most recent staff engagement survey.

We've done 4 staff surveys in the three years I have been there. The Volunteer Engagement Team have had an engagement score of 90-97% in those surveys. Exceptional!

The data point I focus on the most are the scores about my management. Consistently my "score" for being a great role model has been 100%.

But the data point I believe truly reflects my influence in the increase in score about whether I share useful feedback with my team from 67% - 100%. Because I listened, tweaked my actions, and my team responded to the changes.

What data points do you have, or could you create that demonstrate your impact or influence?
